OSOT Participates in the 2023 Ontario Pre-Budget Submissions

The Ontario Government’s Standing Committee for Finance and Economic Affairs held Pre-Budget Consultations beginning early this year. This was an opportunity for individuals and organizations to provide insights on their priorities for the 2023 provincial budget. OSOT participated by providing a written submission on February 14, 2023, discussing the following recommendations:

• Recommendation 1: Decrease waitlists to access mental health services for children, youth, and older adults by expanding use of all mental health professionals including occupational therapists.
• Recommendation 2: Invest in funding multidisciplinary health teams across the health care continuum.
• Recommendation 3: Increase funding, recruitment, and retention of occupational therapists in long-term care, and home and community care.
