Description of Opportunity

Oscar's Place Rehabilitation and Wellness Centre for Children is looking for a Registered Occupational Therapist to join our team! 

As parents of a special little boy, Oscar’s Place owners, Lana and Oscar Roman learned first-hand that there is very limited access to privately funded rehabilitation services for children north of Toronto. Lana’s background as a physiotherapist combined with her passion for pediatric rehabilitation fueled the creation of Oscar’s Place.

Oscar's Place is the only privately funded centre for children in Collingwood, Ontario and services both Simcoe and Grey Counties. We provide a multidisciplinary approach to pediatric rehabilitation, offering physiotherapy, speech-language pathology, occupational therapy, and mental health services catered to the needs of children and their parents. 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Occupational Therapist works to improve participation and quality of life through a child’s ability to perform role-appropriate, day-to-day tasks necessary for self-care (such as feeding, dressing, toileting); productivity (such as school, work); and leisure and play within their environment. This process involves assessment, identification of strengths and needs, goal-setting, treatment planning, and implementation of treatment in a direct, indirect or consultative manner, as indicated, then discharge. This position is part-time, growing into a full-time position. 

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:  

  • Registration and membership in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario 
  • Post-secondary degree in occupational therapy 
  • Sound understanding of occupational therapy amongst children and youth (ages 0-17)
  • Strong interest or experience in: School Based Rehabilitation, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Active rehabilitation 0-18yrs children with various neurological, developmental and/or physical  challenges
  • Ability to assess, treat, consult and educate children and youth with physical and/or developmental delays or challenges
  • Effectively educate children/youth, families and other care providers related to their specific needs, utilizing a variety of strategies and through a variety of mediums (group, individual, lectures, online, etc.)
  • Ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team
