Unit Summary
The Regional Rehabilitation Centre is home to an outpatient Fee For Service rehabilitation program  that will assess and treat workers from the WSIB  (Workplace Safety Insurance Board) program.  This program will assess and treat WSIB workers to address their impairments and functional limitations due to their workplace injuries. The OT will work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team consisting of Psychology, PT, OTA/PTA and Kin. The service delivery model consists of 1:1 intensive rehabilitation, circuit styled work hardening and group education sessions specific to the patient population. 
 

Position Summary
As a member of an interdisciplinary healthcare team, the Occupational Therapist coordinates, assesses and provides care to patients with a variety of outpatient WSIB neurological, and musculoskeletal needs. The Therapist will communicate and collaborate effectively with the interdisciplinary team members and community agencies in the provision of care and in accordance with WSIB reporting timelines. The Occupational Therapist is responsible for the provision of assessments, treatment interventions program planning and implementation, discharge planning and WSIB communication for Occupational Health Assessment Programs and Specialty Treatment programs.
 

Schedule Work Hours
Monday to Friday; days and evenings
 

Qualifications

  • Required: Current registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario
  • Required: Graduate of an approved School of Occupational Therapy
  • Required: Demonstrated knowledge and experience, within the last 5 years, in the management of patients with MSK and ABI injuries and patients being treated with workplace injuries.
  • Self-directed, flexible, independent practitioner who is also able to collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary healthcare team
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience, within the last 5 years, in the area of WSIB OHAP and Specialty treatment programs including customized splinting of the upper extremity as well as device fitting.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, strong communication skills, well-developed critical thinking and clinical reasoning skills, as well as a patient and family-centred approach to care
  • Demonstrated experience, within the last 3 years, working collaboratively with and assigning tasks to an OTA and/or other support personnel
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge in the provision of evidence-based Occupational Therapy care
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with a wide variety of stake-holder groups including clients, families, support staff/caregivers, management teams and other members within the circle of care
  • Demonstrated knowledge of patient safety procedures/protocols
  • Demonstrated ability to perform repetitive bending, reaching, pushing, lifting and transferring techniques using appropriate body mechanics
  • Demonstrated interest and commitment to supporting student educational opportunities, as well as participating in continuing professional development opportunities, professional practice and program committees and initiatives that support patient care, clinical practice, education and research as approved by Clinical Manager in conjunction with the Chief of Interdisciplinary Practice
     


Proficiency in both Official Languages would be an asset.
