After taking this course, clinicians will be able to screen/assess sleep challenges, and, where appropriate, offer concrete treatment strategies. Screening tools, worksheets, and therapy resources are available to print and can be used as soon as the first client session post course completion.
Course includes: Sleep Anatomy and Architecture – Review of the stages of sleep and how these can be disrupted post-concussion. Symptoms – Investigating the role of sleep with weight management, cognitive challenges, pain, and mental health illness. Sleep Disorders vs. Sleep Disruption – Differentiating the primary sleep disorders vs. sleep disruptions to properly guide assessment and therapy.
Assessments – Teaching of screening assessments. Clinicians will have access to printable assessments for use upon completion of this course. Sleep Tracking –Tracking sleep, calculating sleep efficiency, and creating evidenced based treatment plans. Therapy Techniques – Step-by-step guide outlining treatment and how to determine best approaches based on client presentation.
